The check engine light is one of the most recognizable warning indicators on your vehicle’s dashboard. Although it can sometimes be triggered by a relatively minor issue, it can also indicate a problem affecting important engine, emissions, fuel, or electrical components. Ignoring the warning may allow a developing problem to become more serious. Here’s a look at four common reasons the check engine light comes on. Failing Oxygen Sensor Oxygen sensors monitor the amount of oxygen in your vehicle’s exhaust and provide information that helps the engine control system adjust the air-fuel mixture.
